Fyodor

This blog is named after Russian writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s famous novella published in 1864- Notes From the Underground. The narrator describes a world I don’t want to live in, but one in which I can identify. Dostoyevsky had a difficult life. Through fiction, he, like many writers, exposed inherent truth about the human condition. The narrator in his story invites both loathing and sympathy. His philosophy, however, is golden.

This youtube video summarizes the book’s plot and philosophy in 4:24 minutes. It is unconventional. My college professors wouldn’t have approved, but his analysis is spot on. Skip to 2:02 mark to understand why Dostoyevsky is still relevant today.
