Welcome to Notes From the Underground

This site started as a way to relay unconventional thoughts and ideas, ideas that are missing from mainstream news.  As a digger of truth for many years, I realized that truth is a prism- depending on how you look at it, you will see different things.  However, this blog is not about the kumbaya.  It’s is also about calling a spade a spade.

The blog’s name came from Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s famous novel, Notes from Underground.  It is told from the point of view of a disenfranchised man alienated from society.  He lives underground, in a basement really, unknown and cynical about the world around him.  That’s how I feel about our government, community, and mainstream news.  We need something to hold us together- less dumb entertainment and more real ideas.

I believe it’s important to look at things as they are instead of how we want them to look or someone else tells us they should look.  To do that we need to be curious and challenge ourselves. I will examine news and feature stories through my lens.  If you agree or have something to share, great!  If you don’t agree, that’s fine too.  We need different viewpoints in this world.  Ideas intersect and when there are a lot of them, they build cohesion.

I hope you enjoy this site.  You can also find me on Twitter and Gettr.
